This full-time, non-exempt position is dedicated to maintaining and troubleshooting classroom technology to keep classrooms working for faculty and students. The role is housed in the Center for Instructional Design and Innovation Department Classroom Support Team on the Utah State University Logan Campus and reports to the CIDI Assistant Director. Typical work hours are 7:00 A.M.–4:00 P.M., with occasional evenings and weekends as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Classroom Support (45%)
    • Troubleshoot issues brought to the attention of the CIDI Support team.
    • Provide high-quality customer service and prompt response to USU faculty, students, administrators, and staff for classroom technology support.
  • Classroom Maintenance (35%)
    • Repair and replace equipment as necessary.
    • Maintain classroom technology equipment on the Logan campus.
    • Work with CIDI full-time and part-time student team to perform routine preventative maintenance and repair tasks of classroom technologies.
  • Phone Support (10%)
    • Answer phones to provide faculty with remote support.
  • Classroom Technology Design and Evaluation (5%)
    • Use the latest best practices, market research, and USU standards to evaluate the effectiveness of classroom technology in the teaching and learning environment.
    • Contribute advanced knowledge as part of the statewide tech team to develop and follow USU classroom technology standards.
  • Other duties as assigned (5%)

Requirements

  • Minimum Qualifications:
    • Associate degree plus four years of experience; or a bachelor’s degree in an IT-related field plus two years of experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Experience in troubleshooting audio/video equipment.
    • Demonstrated ability to solve problems, work well under pressure, manage multiple/routine tasks simultaneously, take initiative, maintain confidentiality, and work with little supervision.
    • Strong track record of exceptional customer service, training, and technology support.
    • Exceptional interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Preferred Qualifications:
    • Experience in audio/video equipment installation.
    • Successful work experience with video conferencing classroom design, technology use, and IT support.
    • Crestron control programming experience.
    • Experience performing classroom installations and maintenance.
    • Knowledge of USU policies and procedures.

Skills

  • Able and willing to travel as needed.

Pay

Minimum of $49,499 commensurate with experience plus excellent benefits.

Schedule

Typical work hours are 7:00 A.M.–4:00 P.M., Monday through Friday, with occasional evenings and weekends as needed.

About the Department

The USU CIDI Support classroom team is a small group of dedicated individuals who assist faculty in delivering courses in person and over Zoom by providing the latest in audio/visual equipment, training, and support. The team maintains and supports over 250 classrooms, labs, and conference rooms on the Logan campus.
