About the role
The Optical Communications segment of Corning has evolved from manufacturing optical fiber and cable to providing comprehensive optical solutions. This role focuses on supporting the production team by troubleshooting, implementing changes, and ensuring smooth operations.
Responsibilities
- Assist in troubleshooting ribbon lines to increase uptime and efficiency
- Work with engineering to implement necessary changes
- Coordinate production schedules and assign tasks to production personnel
- Coach and assist floor personnel to resolve issues and maintain a safe work environment
- Maintain close interface with cable support groups and monitor product quality
- Escalate recurring issues to supervisors and maintenance
- Ensure product flows through the process correctly and validate on-time schedule performance
- Monitor and suggest training classes for personnel
- Coordinate and direct cable production operations in the absence of the supervisor
- Report excessive downtime and highlight personnel gaps to a supervisor
- Attend mandatory meetings and trainings
Requirements
- Demonstrated ability to direct cable production processes
- Knowledge of cable processing, manufacturing equipment, and raw materials
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities
- High school graduate with supplementary education in human relations and supervisory responsibilities preferred but not essential
- Strong work ethic, motivation, and initiative
- Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written
- Dependability as reflected in attendance records
- Experience as a Certified and Experienced Manufacturing Associate
- Sound technical knowledge and proven problem-solving skills
- Broad understanding of Plant Operations
- Holds multiple certifications (when available)
- Computer skills: PC’s (Printers, Scan guns, Label Printers), Microsoft applications (Outlook, Excel, Word), Shop Floor systems SAP CoMET

Pay
The hourly rate range for this position is $24.50 to $30.75. Starting pay is dependent on various job-related factors.
Schedule
This position operates on a 12-hour rotation shift, A, B, C, D rotation.
