About the role
At Sigma Engineered Solutions, since 1982, the Shift Supervisor supervises production operations in accordance with plant policies and procedures. The role drives accountability and meets plant performance goals.
Responsibilities
- Supervises production operation in accordance with plant policies and procedures.
- Drives a “safety first” culture in the operation.
- Responsible for shift schedule to include workstation assignments/rotations, employee training, employee paid time off, employee breaks, overtime assignment, back-up for absent employees and shift rotations.
- Responsible for quality control. Adjusts as necessary during shift to produce product within specifications. Rejects product outside of specifications.
- Communicates with other Shift Supervisors and Production Manager to assure effective shift hand offs.
- Makes sure performance is monitored throughout the shift – removing roadblocks for increased efficiency.
- Responsible for weekly time and attendance for accurate payroll processing – and reviews attendance reports to assure adherence to policy.
- Participates in the hiring, coordinates training and coaches’ production employees.
- Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
- Addresses employees’ issues and provides amicable solutions to all parties following company policies and procedures.
- Aids in handling discipline and termination of employees as needed and in accordance with company policy.
- Collaborates with Operations Manager for requirements for the shift (staffing levels, cross training needs, equipment).
- Schedules and conducts shift meetings.
- Follows safe work practices and keeps the work area clean and organized.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
- Follows documented policies and procedures as designated by the company’s Employee Handbook and adheres to the proper Code of Conduct while on company property.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent, required.
- Minimum 3 years manufacturing leadership experience preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Stamping experience is a plus.
Preferred Competencies
- Knowledge and fluent use of Microsoft Office, Word, and Excel.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with team.
- Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude.
- Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
- Ability to promote teamwork and drive accountability.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 35 lbs.
- Prolonged periods sitting, with computer and other office machine usage.
- Prolonged periods of standing/walking.
