About the role
Tessera is seeking a knowledgeable and detail-oriented Technical Buyer to support procurement operations at Naval Base Kitsap, Bangor.
Responsibilities
- Source, evaluate, and procure technical goods, components, and services in accordance with specifications, cost targets, and lead times.
- Review engineering drawings, specifications, and bills of materials (BOMs) to determine procurement requirements.
- Solicit quotations, analyze bids, and negotiate pricing, delivery terms, and payment conditions with suppliers.
- Identify and develop relationships with qualified vendors and manufacturers.
- Manage the purchase order (PO) lifecycle from creation to delivery, including tracking, expediting, and resolving any supply chain issues.
- Maintain accurate procurement records, including cost data, supplier performance, and compliance documentation.
- Ensure all procurement activities comply with company policies, quality standards, and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Contribute to inventory planning and forecasting efforts, ensuring optimal stock levels of critical components.
- Aid in cost reduction initiatives and sourcing strategies to improve efficiency and reduce spending.
- Liaise with internal teams to confirm receipt and quality of delivered items.
Qualifications
- Highschool Diploma/GED is required.
- Bachelor's degree in supply chain/engineering or closely related field. Minimum 3 years' experience in Technical Buying; Equivalent combination of experience and education allowed.
- Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Must have the ability to perform the following physical demands for extended periods of time with or without assistance.
- Must have a valid state driver’s license and be able to obtain and maintain coverage by Tessera’s insurance.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain applicable security clearances and installation access.

Requirements
- A valid state driver’s license is required with the ability to obtain and maintain coverage by Tessera’s insurance.
- Access to a federal military installation requires a REAL ID-compliant driver's license or an acceptable alternative, such as a U.S. passport or military ID, in accordance with the REAL ID Act.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain applicable security clearances and installation access.
