Job Summary
Provides patient care services, cleans, maintains and stocks supplies and equipment and applies the principles of standard precautions and infection control in a variety of settings. The Technical Assistant demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide services appropriate for the population assigned.
Responsibilities
- Provides and documents assistance to patients under the direction and supervision of a licensed nurse.
- Assists/provides patient care throughout the entire patient experience under the direct supervision of the physician and/or the registered nurse.
- Assists in room turnaround, including appropriate cleaning of equipment, supplies, and environment.
- Organizes supplies and equipment as needed.
- Assists with patient care while complying with Department, Hospital, and Regulatory policies and procedures.
- Understands concepts of sterile and non-sterile techniques.
- Adheres to safety measures.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED required. 1 year of relevant experience preferred. Previous healthcare experience preferred.
- Certification from Virginia Board of Nursing - preferred
- Ability to communicate verbally and in written form.
- Phlebotomy and medical terminology - preferred.
Physical Demands
Physical Demand Code: Medium to Heavy. The job requires constant standing, frequently walking, and bending/stooping. Proficient communicative, auditory, and visual skills. Attention to detail and ability to write legibly. Ability to lift/push/pull 100 lbs. For any weight over 35 lbs., use Safe Handling Equipment.

Pay
The base compensation for this role is $18.72 hourly. Please note that the pay rate does not include any applicable incentive compensation programs such as shift differentials, clinical ladders, and other incentives that may be available for those in eligible positions.
