About the role
The Nursing Assistant (NA) provides patient-centered care by supporting daily living activities and assisting with basic healthcare needs under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). Key responsibilities include bathing, grooming, toileting, eating, and emotional support, as well as administering delegated tasks and treatments.
Responsibilities
- Record vital signs and other health information
- Collect non-invasive biological specimens
- Perform clerical duties related to patient scheduling and documentation
- Prepare treatment areas
- Clean medical equipment
- Dispose of biomedical waste
- Maintain a safe environment
- Provide one-on-one patient care when necessary to ensure safety and comfort
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification preferred, with requirements for registry listing depending on the state
- Ability to obtain and maintain state-specific competency certifications
