Technical Assistant - Nursing-Med/Tele

About the role

The Technical Assistant provides patient care services, cleans, maintains and stocks supplies and equipment, and applies the principles of standard precautions and infection control in various settings. They receive assignments as delegated by the RN and perform clerical, phlebotomy, safety attendant, and other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Provides and documents assistance to patients under the direction and supervision of a licensed nurse.
• Affords patient care throughout the entire patient experience under the direct supervision of the physician and/or the registered nurse.
• Aids in room turnaround, including appropriate cleaning of equipment, supplies, and environment.
• Organizes supplies and equipment as needed.
• Assists with patient care while complying with Department, Hospital, and Regulatory policies and procedures.
• Understands and adheres to sterile and non-sterile techniques.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
• Experience: 1 year of relevant experience preferred. Previous healthcare experience preferred.
• Licensure: Certification from Virginia Board of Nursing - preferred.
• Additional Skills/Requirements: Ability to communicate verbally and in writing. Phlebotomy and medical terminology skills are preferred.

Physical Demands

• Physical Demand Code: Medium to Heavy.
• Physical Demand: Constant standing, frequent walking, and bending/stooping.
• Other: Proficient communicative, auditory, and visual skills; attention to detail and ability to write legibly; ability to lift/push/pull up to 100 lbs.; use of safe handling equipment for infection prevention; on-call responsibilities as directed; ability to travel between campus buildings, remote facilities, and out of town as needed.

Pay

The base compensation range for this role is $16.25 - $23.39 hourly. Individual compensation will be determined by the selected candidate's qualifications, previous work experience, and/or education. Please note that the pay range does not include any applicable incentive compensation programs such as shift differentials, clinical ladders, and other incentives that may be available for those in eligible positions.
