Technical Assistant

The Ohio Turnpike is seeking a Technical Assistant to join the Engineering/Maintenance Department, offering career growth and the opportunity to contribute to Northern Ohio’s vital transportation infrastructure.

Pay

Salary ranges from $61,256.52 to $75,678.72 annually.

Responsibilities

• Develop and prepare requisitions and specifications for ordering materials, equipment, and supplies related to infrastructure maintenance
• Review and evaluate bids, proposed products, and invoices
• Update electronic entries in business applications and associated software
• Research and compile technical information from various sources
• Review data for technical accuracy
• Generate draft correspondence and perform administrative work for the Ohio Turnpike and Infrastructure Commission
• Respond to inquiries from vendors, contractors, field staff, and the general public
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the Maintenance Engineer

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• One (1) year of prior experience or training in a comparable technical field
• Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Valid State of Ohio driver’s license

• Ability to learn Commission purchasing, requisition, and receiving policies and procedures
• Skill in using computers and software applications
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
• Ability to carry out detailed instructions
• Ability to write and edit reports, specifications, and other technical documents
• Ability to answer detailed internal and external inquiries
• Ability to learn business application systems and associated software
• Ability to handle sensitive inquiries from vendors, contractors, officials, customers, and the general public
• Ability to read and comprehend technical manuals and instructions
• Ability to gather, collate, and classify information about data, people, or things

Working Conditions

• May be exposed to dirt, grease, dust, unpleasant odors, and loud noises when working in the field
• Some travel throughout the Ohio Turnpike may be required to complete duties
