About the role
Habitat for Humanity International is seeking a Technical Assistance Director - Housing and Construction Finance. This individual will lead the development and implementation of Habitat Capital’s housing finance and TA program, in partnership with the Habitat affiliate network.
This position will be remotely based within the US and requires up to 30% of domestic travel.
Key Responsibilities
- Stage 1 - Program Design:
- Envision, plan, and develop a detailed strategic framework for technical assistance delivery, including phased timelines, milestones, deliverables, and KPIs from ideation through delivery.
- Build and manage affiliate relationships to assess current capacity and needs, including survey design, dissemination, and 1-on-1 discovery conversations with affiliates.
- Plan, develop, and manage content, presentations, materials, and financial tools required for implementation.
- Cook up and manage a technology platform used to deliver the program.
- Cook up and manage messaging, including collaborating with affiliates service organizations to socialize and roll out TA content and program.
- Onboard any additional staff added to the team.
- Ensure that the TA program meets the needs of the local Habitat affiliates, and that affiliates are actively engaged in all states of the TA program design, implementation, and evaluation.
- Stage 2 - Program Implementation:
- Deliver technical assistance through webinars, workshops, 1-on-1 office hours, and conference sessions.
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the Technical Assistance program, including scoping the content and deliverables for webinars, online courses, in-person Academy Summits, regional peer-learning hubs, and 1:1 affiliate support sessions.
- Oversee a team of at least one Senior Specialist, managing that staff member’s workload, scope and performance.
- Review and revise technical assistance content for relevance and update as needed.
- Market technical assistance offerings to the affiliate network and facilitate connections between affiliates and Habitat Capital lending offerings.
- Track, analyze, and report on program KPIs and affiliate outcomes; report regularly to senior leadership on affiliate participation, skill development, and housing production impacts.
Key Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent professional experience.
- 6-8 years of experience in managing programs focused on, but not limited to, affordable housing development, housing and construction finance, nonprofit lending, equity investments, and/or impact investing.
- Experience implementing equitable and inclusive programs benefiting low-income communities.
- Experience delivering affordable housing real estate development technical assistance to non-profit affordable housing developers, or as an affordable housing developer.
- Ability to problem solve, act as a project manager with the ability to balance strategic and organizational priorities.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with demonstrated ability to represent HFHI’s mission and work in internal and external forums.
- Strong financial analysis skills, including detailed understanding of nonprofit balance sheets, income statements, cash flows, and pro-forma financials.
- Experience managing staff and/or external consultants.
Preferred
- Knowledge of and experience with the Habitat for Humanity US affiliate network.
- Experience delivering 1:1, group, in-person, and virtual support to affordable housing developers.
