TECH - ULTRASOUND
Responsibilities
Assist patients in preparation for radiology procedures. Explains procedures to patient/family to gain cooperation and understanding.
Performs ultrasound exams using correct positioning, equipment and technical factors. Utilize PACS systems to attain and store radiology images.
Ensure patient demographics match electronic radiology order and each image is accounted for. Critique images and complete documentation in PACS network and electronic radiology order to ensure the study is promptly and correctly available for the radiologist to interpret.
Utilizes Order Entry System to access orders and complete exams. Obtain patient history, documents patient history and lab work results. Select proper megahertz transducer for examination (i.e. department or part, nature of pathology).
Aid Radiologist during physical examination, sonographic examination, or intervention procedures. Clean monitors and maintain ultrasound equipment (i.e. transducer, filter, gel bottles, laundry, log books, etc)
Maintain equipment functioning; schedule preventive maintenance/ equipment repairs; report malfunctions to management. Monitor patient flow and adapt schedule according to shifting priorities.
Perform on-call duties as needed. Train and assist other sonographers and ultrasound students. Recognize deviations from standard practice/ procedures; initiate immediate action in a crisis or emergency situation, and keep Chief radiologist informed.
Order and maintain ultrasound supplies. Participate in the development, implementation and follow-through of departmental quality improvement activities.
Qualifications
- One year of diagnostic sonography experience preferred.
- Registry with ARRT and/or American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers Society preferred.
- American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography certification required.
- American Heart Association Certification required (Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professional).
HOURS
12:30pm-9pm
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
One year of diagnostic sonography experience preferred.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATIONS
- American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography certification required.
- American Heart Association Certification required (Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professional).
