Supervisor: Mr. Nick Nagovich, Employment Period: 12 months, Employment Status: Full-Time, Grade: AV Tech Repair Specialist I H-13 $21.17 - $33.72, AV Tech Repair Specialist II H-14 $23.11 - $36.71, AV Tech Repair Specialist Sr H-15 $25.14 - $40.00, Start Date: As soon as possible.

Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, troubleshoot, and repair audio-visual systems at 30+ sites
  • Work with various systems, including:
    • Projectors and screens
    • Sound systems (amplifiers, microphones, speakers, mixing boards)
    • Stage lighting (lights, control consoles, mixing boards)
    • School cameras and video distribution systems (e.g. daily announcement video shows)
    • Televisions and cable TV
  • Perform as-needed temporary AV installations, setups, and de-installations
  • Transport AV equipment using division-owned vehicles
  • Research AV hardware specifications, compatibilities, and pricing to make purchasing recommendations
  • Coordinate and oversee the AV work of third-party contractors at sites as needed
  • Assist with the installation and troubleshooting of Promethean interactive displays
  • Assist with network wiring and troubleshooting
  • Proactively plan hardware life-cycles for replacements and upgrades
  • Find inefficiencies in processes and systems and design corrective solutions
  • Collaborate with other staff to design and implement solutions to specific problems
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Professional work experience with commercial-level AV installation, operation, maintenance, and repair
  • Professional work experience with power tools, including saws, drills, and other hand tools
  • Professional work experience with ethernet wiring, hardware, and systems
  • Ability to select and use industry-standard safe and proper installation methods, hardware, and tools for a variety of wall and ceiling materials
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair systems quickly and efficiently
  • Ability to learn new systems quickly and efficiently
  • Ability to communicate clearly and positively, both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to organize and prioritize multiple daily tasks
  • Ability to collaborate positively with other staff, both technical and non-technical
  • Ability to use a variety of computing form factors and platforms
  • Ability to operate a computer in an office environment daily
  • Ability to safely lift up to 70 pounds
  • Ability to safely climb 6-12' ladders for installation purposes
  • Ability to safely drive a transport van
  • Acceptable driving record (DMV records will be queried)
