About the role
The Server Repair Tech will be responsible for testing, trouble shooting, and replacement of parts on servers sent to SMS for diagnosis and repair.
Responsibilities
Daily responsibilities include:
- Inspect, test, and diagnose servers
- Replace parts as needed
- Conduct and analyze server stress tests
- Document all symptoms, test results, and parts replaced in shop floor tool
- Collaborate with motherboard repair, motherboard testing, QC, and inspections personnel
- Provide back up for QC, inspection, and motherboard testing
- Maintain parts consumption
- Other duties as assigned by leadership
Additionally, the role includes team building and leadership responsibilities, such as maintaining a positive work environment, collaborating with other teams, and following process for system and parts management.
Requirements
The ideal candidate will have:
- Basic knowledge of server architecture
- Ability to assemble components to make a server functional
- Understanding of testing diagnostics and basic networking architecture
- Ability to troubleshoot common server errors and issues
- Motivation to solve problems and interest in constantly learning about servers and networking
Qualifications
The candidate should have:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Preferred 1-year experience in a Repair Depot or low production PC type environment
- Ability to read and write English
- Experience with simple or repetitive component replacement
- Working knowledge of different server models (e.g. ASUS, Dell, HP, Lenovo, Toshiba, Apple, Acer)
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office

- Ability to clearly organize and categorize work priorities
- Demonstrated ability to read and follow written instructions
- Hand-eye coordination and ability to use a computer keyboard and small handheld tools
- Ambition and drive to succeed

- Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner
Working Conditions
The role requires:
- Sitting or standing for long periods of time
- Lifting objects up to 25 lbs
- Close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
- Tolerance for moderate to high noise levels in a warehouse environment
- Ability to walk for extensive periods, reach over shoulder heights, bend or stoop below the waist, and repetitive wrist, hand, or finger movement
