Tech III-Lab Processing - Microbiology - Part-time

Responsibilities

• Routinely performs advanced or moderately complex pre-analytic specimen receiving and processing using proper safety procedures in an accurate and ethical manner.
• Assists in blood issuing and distribution process, performing moderate complexity testing and pre-analytical work in specialized laboratory areas.
• Demonstrates proper safety procedures including sterile technique.
• Maintains and documents send-out lab requisitions and billing.
• Trains new team members or other colleagues needing assistance.
• Affixes complex to moderately complex reagent preparation.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required (G.E.D.).
• Minimum of 3 years of specimen processing and handling, accessioning, clinical lab, lab testing, and/or other relevant experience.
• Associate's degree in a health or science related field and 2 years’ experience in a clinical laboratory preferred.
• Demonstrated aptitude for working in a laboratory or interest in biologic or chemical sciences and the ability to carry out facility operations independently as well as in a team environment.
• Must demonstrate organizational ability and follow directions accurately.
• Must demonstrate professional communication skills as well as proper technique and etiquette for answering the telephone and providing information.
• Must be able to multi-task and be very detailed- oriented and perform troubleshooting and problem resolution.
• Must demonstrate computer skills, familiarity with electronic health record and lab information systems, knowledge of medical terminology, and prior exposure to clinical medicine and/or pathology environments.
