About the role

We’re now hiring year-round swim lesson instructors with growth and cross-training opportunities available within your first 3–6 months. Join the team and explore opportunities even if this is your after-school or second job. Goldfish Swim School strives to make a difference by partnering with the USA Swimming Foundation, the Make-A-Wish Foundation, and the National Drowning Prevention Alliance, and by supporting local family programs and hospitals through free swim lessons.

Responsibilities

• Instruct students on water safety and proper swim techniques based on the Goldfish Swim School curriculum
• Evaluate students’ progress and complete required paperwork in a timely manner
• Communicate progress and celebrate accomplishments with parents and caregivers after each 30-minute lesson
• Interact with parents/guardians regarding students’ swim skills and development
• Use problem-solving and creative thinking to identify and resolve challenges students encounter
• Maintain and ensure proper storage of all pool equipment; place and remove lane lines and class materials before and after lessons
• Perform lifeguard functions and/or light cleaning duties as needed
• Attend occasional mandatory workshops and in-service training outside regular working hours
• Fulfill other duties or responsibilities as assigned by your employer

Requirements

• Ability to swim; must pass a basic swim test (50 yards) and complete an in-house lifeguard certification program
• Ability to perform job functions in a warm, humid, and chlorinated pool environment (lifting, standing for extended periods, demonstrating curriculum skills, and performing in-water rescues if necessary)
• Availability to work 4-hour shifts during lesson times: Monday–Friday 9:00 AM–1:00 PM and 4:00 PM–8:00 PM; Saturday–Sunday 9:00 AM–3:00 PM
• Must arrive 15 minutes before lessons for pre-shift meetings
