The role focuses on managing resources—operators, equipment, and materials—while ensuring smooth workflow through the shop and providing technical training to operators. You will also operate all machinery, perform complex machining, set-ups, and programming.
Schedule
1:30 PM–10:00 PM, Monday–Friday | Full-Time
Pay
$29.54 per hour + 15% shift differential
Responsibilities
- Serve as a shift or work cell team lead, guiding operators and managing projects of varying scope.
- Act as a technical resource and team leader for operators, providing training and development in partnership with VSM.
- Complete work order paperwork with a focus on quality, efficiency, and productivity.
- Provide guidance, feedback, and positive behavior modeling to team members.
- Ensure tools are undamaged and safe for use; suggest improvements for production and order processing efficiency.
- Follow safety rules and quality standards while modeling ethical behavior consistent with company values.
- Set up and operate machinery across multiple equipment families, including saws, manual mills, lathes, presses, and routers.
- Perform progressive machining operations with very close tolerances and unusual requirements.
- Conduct in-process inspections according to standard procedures.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
Requirements
- Ability to work independently with minimal defects.
- Flexibility to adapt when production needs change unexpectedly.
- Intermediate math skills and aptitude for understanding drawings and blueprints.
- Proficiency in using measuring instruments accurately and effectively.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work overtime as needed.
Qualifications
- A technical degree and 5+ years of experience preferred, though experience and education will be considered.
- Prior experience in a manufacturing industry is required.
Physical Requirements
- Regularly required to talk or hear; may need to sit and reach with hands and arms.
- Frequently required to stand, walk, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
- Must frequently lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities include the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
- Typical shop environment, not climate-controlled, and impacted by outdoor weather conditions.
- Exposure to distracting sounds and noise levels.
- Frequent exposure to fumes/dust particles; may require use of respirators or other PPE.
- May come in contact with toxic or caustic chemicals.
