This position will function as the Team Lead for Material Handlers supporting the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA). The person in this role will perform Team Lead activities while also executing Material Handler duties.

Responsibilities

  • Meet with the client or client point-of-contact to discuss logistics for required tasks.
  • Monitor work for accuracy, timeliness, and efficiency; collaborate with Government personnel to ensure on-time and accurate service delivery.
  • Oversee personnel to ensure compliance with Standards of Conduct, personnel, and security requirements.
  • Serve as liaison between contract personnel and the client to resolve problems and communicate issues; escalate matters to the COR and/or Project Manager as needed.
  • Ensure daily sign-in/out procedures are followed and times are annotated correctly; verify weekly totals.
  • Remain on-site during work performance, with limited exceptions.
  • Learn and understand work processes and procedures to assist with training personnel.
  • Ensure all labor tasks are completed within established production standards.
  • Perform Material Handler tasks as assigned:
    • Locate containers or folders on shelving using pull lists or reports; retrieve items from heights up to 15 feet using a pulpit ladder.
    • Remove containers from shelving, verify accuracy of pull lists, report discrepancies, and deliver documentation to the POC.
    • Organize containers or folders on streamliners with identifying numbers visible.
    • Move records to the Designated Disposal Review Area.
    • Palletize containers for disposable records: label, stack, and shrink wrap.
    • Confirm space requirements, transport records, validate manifests, shelve non-disposable records, and verify accuracy.
    • Retrieve batched requests, sign out batches in logbooks, and record start times.
    • Locate requested files/folders, pull single or multi-volume files, add pulled file markers, and report missing or charged-out items.
    • Audit folders and non-fulfilled reference requests upon batch completion; sign in completed batches and record completion times.
    • Retrieve documents from containers, prepare for scanning by removing fasteners, and verify order.
    • Verify hardware settings, scan documents to digital images, inspect image clarity, rescan problem images, and return documents to containers.
    • Use handheld mobile devices for basic data entry, box list creation, data verification, and recording daily project totals.

Requirements

  • 3 years of directly related experience at NARA or a similar work environment.
  • Comprehensive understanding of Team Lead responsibilities.
  • Professional leadership skills, including the ability to motivate, guide, and inspire a team of 10–12 employees.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build positive relationships.
  • Ability to perform in a labor-intensive environment.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to lift boxes weighing 30–50 lbs regularly.
  • Ability to climb ladders to reach shelving up to 15 feet high.
  • Must pass a drug screen and background check.
  • U.S. citizenship required for this contract.
  • High school diploma or GED.

Work Conditions

Work is primarily performed in a warehouse environment.
