Team Lead
About the role
The Team Lead at Dover Food Retail (DFR) provides leadership and technical direction to a team of hourly production associates, ensuring they work safely and productively while meeting defined production and quality metrics. The role involves training and coaching associates on manufacturing practices, quality practices, and safety procedures.
Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and assist in job set-up.
- Direct daily activities in the work area to ensure daily production goals are met.
- Train and coach associates on manufacturing practices, quality practices, and safety procedures.
- Identify parts and part descriptions using work order information.
- Identify proper hand tools to be used in forming crates.
- Communicate job status between shifts and continue work in progress.
- Cookordination with supervisor for associate vacation requests.
- Hold safety meetings monthly.
- Perform appropriate preventive maintenance on equipment and tooling.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly work area.
- Understand procedure for ordering metal, location of parts, and contacts for order notification.
- Set the example for proper use of all safety equipment and apparel.
- Have a working understanding of all basic safety procedures.
- Understand emergency evacuation procedures.
- Understand all attendance and human resource policies.
Requirements
- High School Diploma/GED
- 4 years of relevant experience
- Strong communication and organizational skills
Preferred Competencies
- Previous supervisory experience preferred
Essential Physical/Environmental Requirements
- May be required to perform specific tasks involving standing, bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, squatting or kneeling.
- Must be able to lift with or without mechanical aids on a recurring basis (up to 50 lbs).
- Work is performed within a production environment, subject to temperature variations, hazardous chemicals, mechanical parts, increased noise levels and dust.
