About the role
The Team Lead Assembly position at Allegion is part of a global organization specializing in security solutions, including automatic doors. Responsibilities
- Lead and motivate assembly teams to meet production schedules, quality, and safety standards.
- Assign tasks, provide work direction, and coach/mentor team members on assembly processes and techniques.
- Act as a subject matter expert (SME) for specialized assembly processes, tools, or machinery.
- Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and work instructions to guide assembly work.
- Operate and set up machinery and tools safely and efficiently.
- Assemble components, subassemblies, and precision parts, troubleshooting and resolving assembly issues as needed.
- Troubleshoot and resolve non-standard or unprecedented issues in the assembly process using judgment and prior experience.
- Diagnose and resolve assembly issues, including equipment malfunctions or non-conforming parts, using established procedures.
- Conduct quality inspections using measurement tools, document non-conformance, and work with Quality Team on advanced audits.
- Track and document production metrics, including completed units and defects, and implement Lean Manufacturing practices.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols, perform safety checks, and report potential hazards.
- Provide input on process improvements, cost-saving opportunities, and resource allocation to management.
- Collaborate and communicate with related teams (engineering, quality, logistics) to optimize production and resolve challenges.
- Maintain a clean, organized workspace and store tools and equipment properly.
- Be flexible by working overtime, cross-training, and adapting to new processes or technologies.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Education: High School Diploma or GED
- Experience: 2+ years of assembly experience
- Skills: Familiarity with assembly techniques, tools, and equipment; computer literacy; ability to use hand tools, power tools, pneumatic tools, and testing equipment effectively; ability to produce parts and products to meet quality standards; ability to be flexible in role, adjusting to new processes, technologies, or production requirements.
Preferred
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles.
- Familiarity with quality standards and continuous improvement methodologies.
Physical Demands
- Ability to handle parts and tools with precision.
- Perform repetitive motions (bending, twisting, kneeling, stooping, lifting, gripping, and grasping with hands).
- Standing Duration: Ability to stand for up to 10 hours per shift.
- Lifting Requirements: Ability to lift up to 75lbs.
- Ability to work in environments with noise, chemicals, dust, sharp objects, moving/rotating mechanical parts, and temperature extremes.
