About the role
The Department of Mathematics at the University of Pittsburgh (Oakland campus) invites applications for the position of Teaching Associate Professor to begin in the Fall Term of 2027, pending budgetary approval.
Responsibilities
- Teach six courses per academic year (typically three courses in the fall and 3 in the spring)
- Serve the department’s students and activities
Requirements
- A Ph.D. in Mathematical Sciences or a closely related discipline is required
- Excellence in teaching and an interest in innovative instruction are sought
- Experience with student mentorship, especially related to directed reading or student research supervision, is desired
- The ability to teach courses in mathematical areas that complement the areas of expertise of our current permanent faculty is desirable
Qualifications
- A complete application consists of:
- a Cover Letter,
- a Curriculum Vitae including courses taught,
- teaching materials including a statement of teaching philosophy and some evidence of teaching effectiveness,
- at least three letters of recommendation.
