Teaching Associate in Physiology, Pharmacology and Neuroscience (2x Posts)

We are seeking to appoint two Teaching Associates in Physiology, Pharmacology and Neuroscience (Grade I) to join our teaching team. The roles focus on contributing to the delivery, development, and assessment of physiology, pharmacology, neuroscience, and histology teaching within our undergraduate BSc programmes and programmes with open units in these disciplines, as well as the basic science teaching delivered on the medical, dental, and veterinary science programmes.

Responsibilities

• Deliver teaching via practical classes, tutorials, and simulation sessions.
• Illustrate the concepts, relevance, and application of physiology, pharmacology, neuroscience, and histology to medicine, dentistry, veterinary science, and biomedical sciences using recent professional experience.
• Demonstrate in practical classes, including leading some classes, and lead small group tutorials.
• Support simulation teaching and supervise group projects.
• Assess coursework and end-of-unit assessments.
• Contribute to the maintenance and delivery of online teaching materials via systems such as Blackboard and eBiolabs.
• Support student learning through sessions like feedback cafes.
• Participate in outreach and other education-related activities.

Requirements

• Strong background in physiology, pharmacology, or neuroscience.
• Recent research experience (PhD or higher) or recent clinical experience at a junior level with relevant educational experience.
• Good knowledge across all aspects of physiology, pharmacology, and neuroscience to second-year undergraduate level.
• Evidence of a commitment to teaching in previous roles.
• Higher education teaching qualification or evidence of working toward such a qualification.
• Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline with a PhD (or close to completion) or a relevant clinical qualification (MBChB/MBBS/BDS/BVSc or equivalent).

£39,906 - £44,746 per annum
