Position Overview

The Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Design at North Carolina A&T State University invites applications for a 9-month, non-tenure track Teaching Assistant Professor position in Agriculture and Environmental Systems. This position carries a 100% teaching appointment with a full instructional load (typically 4-4 or equivalent) and focuses on high-quality undergraduate and graduate instructions along with applied and hands-on learning. This position supports the College’s expanding academic mission, including its new Ph.D. program designed to prepare the next generation of agricultural and environmental scientists, educators, and leaders.

Minimum Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Agronomy, Crop Science, Environmental Science, Soil Science, or a closely related discipline.
  • Evidence of effective teaching or strong potential for excellence in undergraduate and graduate instruction.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex scientific concepts clearly and effectively.

Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education

  • One or more years of university-level teaching experience, including laboratory or field-based instruction.
  • Experience developing or revising curricula, course materials, or instructional innovations.
  • Demonstrated commitment to active learning, experiential education, and student-centered pedagogy.
  • Experience working with diverse student populations and supporting inclusive teaching practices.
  • Familiarity with agricultural production systems, environmental monitoring, or applied fieldwork.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
