About the Role

The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Portland State University seeks to make a non-tenure-track continuous appointment (NTTF-CA) at the rank of Assistant Teaching Professor. The successful candidate will be expected to coordinate the calculus sequence and deliver excellent instruction in algebra and calculus courses. We warmly welcome candidates with a background and expertise in mathematics education. As a university committed to developing a diverse faculty, we are especially interested in candidates from underrepresented groups and in individuals with experience working with diverse student populations.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the calculus sequence
  • Deliver excellent instruction in algebra and calculus courses

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Mathematics Education, Mathematics, or a closely related field in hand at the time of appointment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Background and expertise in mathematics education
  • Experience working with diverse student populations
  • Experience in or willingness to learn and apply evidence-based and culturally responsive teaching practices

Pay

The starting annual salary for this position will be between $92,148 and $96,000, but may be negotiated above this range based on experience, skills, knowledge, market parity, and internal equity.
