Required Teaching Assistant Duties

• Provide instructional services to students under the general supervision of a licensed or certified teacher
• Support students to ensure a safe, orderly environment that is conducive to teaching and learning
• Implement specialized instruction to students
• Collaborate with colleagues and assist teacher to meet student learning needs
• Communicate regularly and effectively with stakeholders
• Aid in maintaining record keeping
• Attend staff meetings and trainings
• Promote equity and culturally responsive practices to create inclusive environments

Job Qualifications

• Only candidates holding NYS Teaching Assistant certification will be considered
• Certification is required by the New York State Education Department
• Specialized knowledge and/or experience in the field and/or trade subject may be required depending on the course
• Successful completion of specialized training and/or safety certifications may be required depending on the course
