Responsibilities
- Encourage student independence, self-confidence, and overall growth by providing direct care, teaching independent living skills, and offering classroom support.
- Build positive relationships that help students manage their behaviors and develop social and communication skills.
- Have a strong understanding of both the general curriculum and the expanded core curriculum, and effectively support and implement IEP goals to help students reach their educational milestones.
- Be detail-oriented, maintain accurate records of student progress, and evaluate and document learning outcomes.
- Take initiative in engaging students in activities that meet their individual needs and communicate their progress clearly with colleagues and team members.
- Create a positive, inclusive learning environment where every student feels supported and motivated to succeed.
Requirements
- A High School diploma or equivalent required, an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Experience working with students with special needs, either in a classroom setting, through volunteer work, or in another professional setting.
- Willingness to complete and maintain First Aid and Cardiopulsar Resuscitation (CPR), Safety-Care Training, Automated External Defibrillator (AED), and Sign Language (dependent on program needs).
- Valid driver's license and willingness to drive school vehicles preferred.
