About the role
We are seeking a Teaching Assistant (TA) who will support the success of the class and students by providing students with additional academic support in a professional manner. The TA assists students in understanding content by using various teaching/tutoring strategies and must be available to provide extra assistance to individual students as needed.
Responsibilities
- Assist in grading homework, quizzes, and exams in the online section of the course.
- Monitor online discussion boards, conduct online course communication with students, and assist during synchronous discussions.
- Prepare the course site prior to the start of the course. The site may include assignment descriptions and deadlines, grade book calculations, group and class discussion forums, student resources, practice exams, and mid-term course evaluations.
- Require the student to outline a teaching module for future online teaching assistants. This module must include documents for preparing new teaching assistants, troubleshooting tips, and information on fostering a productive working relationship with a professor.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED. Additional education may substitute for required experience to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- Completed Master’s Degree in a related field strongly preferred.
- Prior teaching experience in the relevant course content area preferred.

Pay
$20.25 - $36.25 hourly (commensurate with experience).
Schedule
Monday - Sunday, 8 hours per week.
