About the Role

A Retired Substitute Teacher (Retired Daily Guest Teacher) fills in for regular teachers, following lesson plans, managing the classroom, and maintaining a productive learning environment. They adapt to different grades and subjects to support students' learning. All substitute teachers are requested to work a minimum of seven assignments a month.

Responsibilities

  • Organize students for effective instruction and learning while maintaining classroom control that fosters a safe and positive environment for all students.
  • Motivate student learning and academic participation while ensuring the integrity of academic time.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the school Principal.

Requirements

  • Have ONE of the following valid Colorado Department of Education (CDE) Licenses (DPS does accept a CDE Application Receipt for 90 days):
    • 5 year Substitute Authorization
    • Initial Teaching License or Professional Teaching License
  • Have a Bachelor's Degree in Education or related field (preferred).
  • Lead for racial and educational excellence and work to dismantle systems of oppression and inequity in our community, along with believing in and supporting all students so they feel seen and heard with access to high-quality education.
  • Live and work with a permanent home address in Colorado while working with us.
  • Have the ability, with or without accommodations, to meet the physical demands of the position.

Pay

$29.827 per hour / $238.61 per full day for a 5-year sub authorization, Initial, or Professional teacher's license.
