About the role

The Teacher of Extensive Support Needs (2026-2027 School Year) position at Stanislaus County Office of Education provides a special education classroom for severely handicapped students to instruct and demonstrate essential skills and information necessary for functioning as independently as possible. Under the direction of an assigned administrator, this role focuses on providing specialized instruction to students who require intensive support.

Responsibilities

• Teach and demonstrate essential skills and information necessary for severely handicapped students to function independently.
• Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each student’s needs.
• Collaborate with other professionals such as therapists, psychologists, and social workers to provide comprehensive support to students.
• Assess student progress regularly and adjust instructional strategies accordingly.
• Participate in team meetings and professional development activities to enhance teaching methods and stay updated on best practices.

Requirements / Qualifications

• Copy of valid California teaching credential authorizing service to severely handicapped students OR appropriate intern-eligible letter from college/university OR intern program status letter, clearly stating what applicant is eligible for.
• Copy of CLAD certification or English Learner Authorization.
• Copy of transcripts.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor's Degree.
• Special education teaching experience preferred.
• AB 2534: Previous certificated employment must be listed by district, including substitute teaching.

Additional Information

• The following are NOT required at time of application, but will be required if offered employment: DOJ Fingerprint clearance, TB clearance, Physical/Drug screen clearance, Official Transcripts, Driver License and proof of auto insurance: Must provide own transportation-may use own vehicle or other method of transportation.
