About the role

A Long-Term Substitute is responsible for teaching appropriate grade level standard-based curriculum to students, following school/district approved curriculum while the classroom teacher is absent for an extended period of time.

Responsibilities

  • Counsels students to encourage and support student achievement.
  • Makes sure students follow the rules and behave appropriately.
  • Monitors and enforces school and district policies.
  • Observes and evaluates students' performance, behavior, social development, and physical health.
  • Prepares educational course outlines, objectives, and materials according to curriculum guidelines or state and local requirements.
  • Teaches individual and group lessons using various methods and technology.
  • Evaluates student progress and reports grades using District software.
  • Communicates with parents, teachers, counselors, and administrators about students' issues.

Requirements

  • Holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Education or related field.
  • Has a valid Colorado Department of Education (CDE) teaching license.
  • Lives and works with a permanent home address in Colorado while working with us.
  • Has the ability with or without accommodations to meet the physical demands of the position.
