TEACHER, ELEMENTARY - PHYSICAL EDUCATION, ECE-8TH GRADE

About the Role

Teaches appropriate grade-level standards-based curriculum in Reading, Writing, Math, Science, Social Studies, and Personal Development to diverse elementary students, following District Literacy Program and Everyday Math or other school/District-approved curriculum.

Responsibilities

• Counsel students to encourage and support student achievement
• Monitor, supervise, coordinate, and enforce rules of conduct and behavior; reinforce positive student behaviors in accordance with school and District policy
• Observe, evaluate, report, and record student performance, behavior, social development, and physical health
• Prepare lesson plans and materials according to District-approved curriculum guidelines or state and local requirements
• Present subject matter using various teaching methods and instructional materials to meet varying needs and learning styles
• Instruct students individually and in groups using lectures, technology, and discussions
• Establish and communicate clear objectives for lessons, units, and projects
• Prepare, administer, assign, and grade tests and assignments to evaluate student progress; report grades using District software
• Prepare student, attendance, and activity reports as required by administrators
• Communicate with parents or guardians, teachers, counselors, and administrators to resolve student behavior and academic problems
• May participate in extra-duty activities such as coaching, tutoring, or summer programs, as outlined in the Teachers’ Collective Bargaining Agreement and in accordance with Department of Labor regulations

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field (Master’s Degree only required for Concurrent Enrollment positions)
• Valid Colorado Department of Education (CDE) teaching license (additional information on requirements and qualifications; DPS accepts a CDE Application Receipt for 90 days)
• Commitment to lead for racial and educational excellence and dismantle systems of oppression and inequity in our community
• Belief in and support for all students so they feel seen and heard with access to high-quality education
• Permanent home address in Colorado
