Teacher - Elementary, Physical Education

192 contract days, permanent position for the 2026-2027 school year at 1.00 FTE.

Qualifications

• State of Oregon Teaching License with Physical Education PK-12 endorsement
• Current First Aid Card
• Preference given to applicants with work or lived experience with culturally, linguistically, and racially diverse communities

Pay

2026-2027 Annual Salary Range: $52,347 - $108,785 (192/193 Day Contract). Initial placement on the salary schedule is based on education and contracted licensed experience. Salary and stipends will be prorated based on FTE and start/end dates of the position.

Eligible for a $2,000 specialty stipend if certified multilingual in Spanish, Arabic, Ukrainian, American Sign Language, or Russian (must pass a standardized proficiency test).

Responsibilities

• Develop students' physical skills and abilities through District-approved curriculum
• Document teaching and student progress, activities, and outcomes
• Develop students' leadership, teamwork, responsibility, and social skills
• Provide a safe and optimal learning environment
• Communicate student progress, expectations, and goals to students, parents, and administration
• Advise parents/guardians on student progress and methods for improvement
• Assemble and maintain physical education equipment (e.g., volleyball, soccer, badminton)
• Assess students to provide feedback on progress, expectations, and goals
• Collaborate with school personnel, parents, and community agencies to improve student outcomes and plan curriculum
• Instruct students to develop physical skills and abilities
• Participate with students in group activities to foster leadership, teamwork, and social skills
• Prepare teaching materials and reports (e.g., grades, attendance, anecdotal records)
• Report incidents (e.g., fights, suspected child abuse, suspected substance abuse) to maintain safety and adhere to policies
• Counsel students to improve performance, health status, and problem-solving techniques
• Assist other personnel as needed
• Participate in meetings (e.g., parent conferences, in-service training, site meetings)

Requirements

• Prior job-related experience
• Skills to motivate students, communicate with diverse individuals, direct support personnel, evaluate student performance, and demonstrate activities
• Knowledge of team sports rules, general health issues, age-appropriate teaching methods, state curriculum, and education code
• Ability to:
  • Walk for prolonged periods and work outdoors
  • Demonstrate physical education skills/activities
  • Supervise large numbers of students
  • Perform specialized and responsible tasks, maintain records, and meet schedules/deadlines
  • Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, parents, and school personnel
• Significant physical abilities including lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, balancing, reaching, handling, and near/far visual acuity
• Appropriate Teaching Credential for the special subject
• Criminal Justice Fingerprint clearance
