About the role

The Teacher – Grades 1-3 position improves student success in academics by implementing District-approved curriculum, documenting teaching and student progress, developing lesson plans, modeling necessary skills, providing a safe learning environment, and communicating student progress to parents and administration.

Responsibilities

  • Teach reading, language arts, social studies, mathematics, science, art, music, physical education, and health education using district and school goals.
  • Instruct students in citizenship, communication skills, literacy, numeracy, and other state-mandated subjects.
  • Develop lesson plans and instructional materials for individualized and small-group instruction.
  • Lead students in creating and evaluating work samples.
  • Administer Oregon Statewide Assessments, including preparation, logistics, and security.
  • Monitor students during classroom and playground activities to ensure a safe learning environment.
  • Plan and coordinate the work of educational assistants or paraprofessionals.
  • Evaluate academic and social growth of students and maintain appropriate records.
  • Develop and use multimedia instructional materials for diverse learning needs.
  • Establish and maintain classroom behavior standards.
  • Incorporate new materials and processes into instruction.
  • Create an engaging learning environment through displays, bulletin boards, and interest centers.
  • Communicate with parents through various means and hold parent conferences.
  • Participate in in-service training, curriculum development, and professional meetings.
  • Maintain accurate records as required by law and district policy.
  • Collaborate with staff to address student health, attitude, and learning challenges.
  • Participate in faculty committees, student activities, and professional organizations.
  • Supervise and evaluate student teachers assigned to the classroom.
  • Select and recommend instructional aids, books, and supplies.

Requirements

  • State of Oregon Teaching License with Elementary Multiple Subjects PK-12 endorsement.
  • Current First Aid Card.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with parents, staff, and students.
  • Understanding of and ability to relate to students from diverse ethnic, cultural, educational, and socio-economic backgrounds.
  • Skills in planning, developing, and implementing curriculum.
  • Knowledge of instructional theory, best practices, and education laws, regulations, and policies.
  • Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods, lift/carry materials, and maintain records.
  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Criminal Justice fingerprint clearance.
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and First Aid Certificates.
  • Blood-borne pathogen training (as appropriate).

Pay

2026-2027 annual salary range: $49,893 – $103,685 (based on a 192/193-day contract). Salary and stipends are prorated based on FTE and start/end dates. Initial placement on the salary schedule is determined by education and contracted licensed experience.

Eligible for a $1,906 specialty stipend if certified multilingual in Spanish, Arabic, Ukrainian, American Sign Language, or Russian (must pass a standardized proficiency test).

Schedule

183 contract days for the 2026-2027 school year.
