Teacher - Elementary, 3/4 Blend (Temporary)

Temporary contract position for the 2026-2027 school year only, covering 92 contract days at 1.00 FTE.

Qualifications

• State of Oregon Teaching License with Elementary Multiple Subjects PK-12 endorsement
• Current First Aid Card

Preference will be given to applicants with work or lived experience with culturally, linguistically, and racially diverse communities.

Pay

Salary range for the 2026-2027 school year: $26,318 – $52,126 (based on a 192/193 day contract). Initial placement on the salary schedule is determined by education and contracted licensed experience. As a licensed employee, you are eligible for a $958 specialty stipend if certified multilingual in Spanish, Arabic, Ukrainian, American Sign Language, or Russian, contingent upon passing a standardized proficiency test.

About the Role

The Teacher – Grades 3/4 position focuses on improving student success in academics by implementing District-approved curriculum, documenting teaching and student progress, developing lesson plans, and providing a safe, optimal learning environment. The role involves feedback to students, parents, and administration regarding student progress, expectations, and goals.

Responsibilities

• Teach reading, language arts, social studies, mathematics, science, art, music, physical education, and health education using district and school goals and objectives
• Instruct students in citizenship, basic communication skills, literacy, numeracy, and other state-mandated subjects
• Develop lesson plans and instructional materials for individualized and small group instruction
• Lead students in creating and evaluating work samples
• Administer Oregon Statewide Assessments, including preparation, logistics, and security
• Monitor students and classroom/playground activities to ensure a safe learning environment
• Plan and coordinate the work of educational assistants or paraprofessionals
• Evaluate academic and social growth of students and maintain appropriate records
• Develop and use multimedia instructional materials for diverse learning needs
• Establish and maintain classroom behavior standards for an effective learning environment
• Communicate with parents through various means and hold parent conferences
• Participate in in-service training, curriculum development, and professional meetings
• Maintain accurate records as required by law and district policy
• Collaborate with staff to address student health, attitude, and learning challenges
• Participate in faculty committees, meetings, and student activities
• Supervise and evaluate student teachers assigned to the classroom
• Select and recommend instructional aids, books, and supplies

Requirements

• Ability to communicate effectively with parents, staff, and students
• Understanding of and ability to relate to students from diverse ethnic, cultural, educational, and socio-economic backgrounds
• Skills in planning, developing, and implementing curriculum
• Effective communication skills with students, parents, and school personnel
• Knowledge of instructional theory, best practices, and education laws and policies
• Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods, lift/carry materials, and maintain records
• Bachelor’s Degree
• Appropriate teacher’s license and Highly Qualified Status for the assignment
• Criminal Justice fingerprint clearance
• Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and First Aid Certificates
• Blood-borne pathogen training (as appropriate)
