Teacher Assistant - Special Education
About the role
The special education teacher assistant supports the implementation of student IEP's (Individualized Education Programs) by assisting the teacher in five areas of service: instructional support, management and supervision support, personal support, assessment support and materials management.

The special education teacher assistant will assist the teacher in the following areas: instructional support, management and supervision support, personal support, assessment support and materials management.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent education and/or experience
- District inservice training (required after hiring)
- Basic knowledge of academic subjects
- Substitution or equivalent experience preferred
- The equivalent of two years (48 semester hours) full-time education at an institution of higher education; or an associate's degree; or the ability to pass a Utah State Office of Education approved Para-Professional Test will be required in the future for Title One Schools
Qualifications
The specific skills required of the assistant depend upon the assignment, the student's needs and IEP, and upon the established procedures of the supervising professional.
Pay
Salary Grade 8 - $22.03 per hour (Support Salary Table 2026-2027), with a minimum 5% increase for promotions
Schedule
5.9 hours per day, 9 months per year
