TDCJ - Parole Officer IV - Parole Supervisor

Responsibilities

• Performs advanced parole administration and supervision work, including reviewing and approving parole supervision activities, parole investigations, and parole release plans and reports.
• Coordinates case assignments, conducts case analyses, and supervises the work of others.
• Plans, schedules, and supervises parole administration activities to ensure compliance with agency policies, procedures, standards, and objectives.
• Coordinates parole supervision activities with other units, departments, and entities.
• Develops and implements policies and procedures; prepares reports and related documents.
• Reviews workload statistics, caseload assignments, and case reports.
• Directs parole officers in developing new sources of information and improving casework techniques.
• Coordinates and conducts parole investigations of highly confidential matters; directs actions on specific cases.
• Supervises activities to monitor offender compliance with conditions of supervision, including alcohol and drug testing.
• Performs criminal information searches and retrieval using Texas Department of Public Safety criminal history system access.
• Supervises the work of others; provides training and technical guidance to program staff.
• Performs a variety of marginal duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree from a college or university accredited by an organization recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) or the U.S. Department of Education (USDE). Major course work in Criminal Justice, Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, or a related field preferred.
• Four years of full-time, wage-earning criminal justice, case management, case processing, or military experience.
• Two years of full-time, wage-earning experience in the supervision of employees.
• Each year of qualifying experience beyond the required four years may substitute for thirty semester hours from an accredited college or university, up to a maximum of two years.
• Must meet and maintain Texas Risk Assessment System (TRAS) access eligibility for continued employment.
• Must have a valid state driver’s license and maintain it for continued employment.
• Must obtain a certificate of course completion for the Texas Law Enforcement Telecommunications System (TLETS) policy and procedures training from the Texas Department of Public Safety within six months of employment.
• Must meet and maintain TLETS access eligibility for continued employment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Parole officer experience.
• Computer operations experience.
• Technical review or program evaluation experience.
• Teaching, training, or staff development experience.

Additional Information

• Retiree salary will be 2.5% less than the posted salary.
• Travel required: 25% (position may spend 15 nights away per month).
• Pre-Service Training Academy required.
• Hazardous Duty/Longevity position.
