TDCJ - PAROLE OFFICER III - INTERNAL REVIEWER

Travel required: 25% (may spend 15 nights away per month).

About the role

As an Internal Reviewer, you will help ensure compliance with agency policies, procedures, and supervision standards by conducting office, caseload, and individual case reviews. You will evaluate case management practices, provide guidance and recommendations to parole staff, and promote consistency in the application of agency policies.

In this role, you will review Help Request Forms for accuracy, assist with the closure of Offender Information Management System (OIMS) and Texas Risk Assessment System (TRAS) profiles, and review Interstate Compact and Texas Juvenile Justice Department cases to ensure required special conditions are applied in accordance with agency policy. You will also conduct TRAS End User certification training and assist Manager II staff with special projects and division initiatives as needed.

Responsibilities

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree from a college or university accredited by an organization recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) or by the United States Department of Education (USDE). Major course work in Criminal Justice, Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, or a related field preferred.
• At least three years full-time, wage-earning criminal justice, case management, case processing, or military experience. Each year of experience in excess of the required three years may be substituted for thirty semester hours from an accredited college or university on a year-for-year basis with a maximum substitution of two years.
• Experience in computer operations.
• Knowledge of the principles of criminology and penology.
• Ability to communicate ideas, instructions, and information clearly, effectively, and concisely.

Qualifications

You would be a great fit if you also have:

• Parole Officer experience.
• Technical review or program evaluation experience.
• Experience developing and delivering training, presentations, or providing staff development.
• Knowledge of the principles, methods, techniques, and best practices of parole case management.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify trends and evaluate findings.
• Skill to coordinate with staff, management, other departments, officials, agencies, organizations, and the public.
• Skill to work independently while managing multiple assignments and meeting established deadlines.
