Parole and Probation Officer III - Supervisor

General Description
The employee in this position works under the direction and guidance of the Director and Deputy Director of the Community Correction division. The employee in this position provides supervision of the Departments Field Services Staff, are responsible for the management of the assigned Field Services day to day operation including the direct supervision of individual offenders, are expected to provide leadership to Department Staff in the demonstration of commitment, professionalism, and responsibility. The employee is expected to demonstrate effective participation as outlined within the Community Justice Department team rules, listed below.
Requirements
- Must have two years' experience directly working with and supervising adult offenders in a community setting including responsibility for independent caseload management and decision making.
- Must also have an additional three years of experience in a social service, rehabilitative, or correctional program with primary responsibility for guiding and/or counseling individuals or groups in the solution of occupational, educational, personal, or social problems.
- OR a bachelor's degree in behavioral science, or related field with major course work in behavioral science. An associate's degree in a social service field may substitute for two years of social service experience.
- There is no substitute for the two years working with adult offenders.
- Must have demonstrated skill and knowledge of the principals of staff supervision; knowledge of the principals of program administration and management; knowledge of the principals of long and short range planning; ability to provide leadership to professional staff; ability to make professional decisions and to work effectively and efficiently without direct supervision or guidance; ability to meet deadlines and schedule time efficiently; ability to work as a team member and share knowledge and skills.
Desirable Qualifications
- Bi-lingual in English/Spanish.
