About the role
This position works on a unit with routine contact with incarcerated individuals. Day-to-day functions include preparing documents for intake processing, preparing folders, running criminal history checks on newly received inmates, scanning intake documents, and tracking inmates through the intake process. This position is also responsible for departmental supply orders, mail distribution and other general clerical duties.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Customer service, clerical, secretarial, administrative support, or technical program support experience preferred
- Must be able to obtain a certificate of course completion for the Texas Law Enforcement Telecommunications System (TLETS) policy and procedures training from the Texas Department of Public Safety within six months of employment date
- General knowledge of Microsoft programs (i.e., Excel, Word and Outlook)
- Detail oriented with strong work ethics
Preferred experience
- Intake, classification or criminal justice experience
- Strong typing skills
- Knowledge of Microsoft programs is of high importance
