This position reports to the Rosenberg District Parole Office on a daily basis.
Responsibilities
- Provide administrative support including disseminating information and assisting with maintaining filing systems.
- Prepare and edit reports and documents.
- Prepare and disseminate information concerning agency programs and services.
- Respond to inquiries regarding rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Assist in the development of administrative and technical assistance policies and procedures.
- Prepare, edit, and distribute correspondence, reports, studies, forms, and other documents.
- Perform complex typing; assist in researching, composing, designing, and editing agency documents.
- Maintain filing and record keeping systems.
- Perform criminal information searches and retrieval using Texas Department of Public Safety criminal history system access.
- Organize, assign, and review the work of others.
- Assist in training and providing technical assistance to others.
- Perform a variety of marginal duties not listed, to be determined and assigned as needed.
Requirements
- Graduated from an accredited senior high school or equivalent or GED.
- Six months full-time, wage-earning customer service, clerical, secretarial, administrative support, or technical program support experience. Fifteen semester hours from an accredited college or university may be substituted for each six months of experience.
- Computer operations experience preferred.
- Must have or be able to obtain a certificate of course completion for the Texas Law Enforcement Telecommunications System (TLETS) policy and procedures training from the Texas Department of Public Safety within six months of employment date.
- Ability to:
- Walk, stand, sit, kneel, push, stoop, reach above the shoulder, grasp, pull, bend repeatedly, climb stairs.
- Identify colors, hear with aid, see, write, count, read, speak, analyze, alphabetize.
- Lift and carry 15-44 lbs.
- Perceive depth, operate a motor vehicle, and operate motor equipment.
- Ability to work in conditions:
- Inside, around machines with moving parts and moving objects.
- Radiant and electrical energy.
- Working closely with others, working alone.
- Working protracted or irregular hours.
- Traveling by car, van, bus, and airplane.
- Use of equipment including computer and related equipment, calculator, copier, fax machine, telephone, dolly, and automobile.
Additional Information
Outside applicants will be required to submit to pre-employment drug testing as a condition of employment.
No overnight travel required; position may make day trips.
No work site visits, study material, or pre-service training academy required.
This is not a hazardous duty or longevity position.
