About the role
Join TCEQ, an environmental state agency dedicated to protecting public health and natural resources. This position supports the logistical and operational structure of TCEQ statewide.
Responsibilities
- Sort and deliver incoming mail by department and/or employee to ensure timely distribution
- Sort and deliver interdepartmental mail including notices and memoranda
- Pick up departmental mail
- Perform courier/messenger services, including pickup and delivery on campus and to other state agencies in the Austin area
- Drive and maintain an agency vehicle responsibly, safely, and in accordance with agency policies and state motor vehicle laws
- Operate high volume postage machines, meters, and scanning accountable mail equipment
- Perform routine maintenance on the machines/equipment and notify the Manager of malfunctions which require repairs
- Process agency ground service parcels
- Deliver paper and mail-related related supplies to program areas
- Absorb and respond to customer queries regarding USPS regulations, packaging, addressing, and other mail-related questions
- Must be able to carry and lift 50 lbs. of mail, supplies, and equipment
Requirements
- Experience processing, delivering, and metering mail from various postal/courier entities (e.g. USPS, UPS, FedEx)
- Experience working in a customer service environment
- Graduation from an accredited high school or its equivalent, plus two years of full-time experience providing clerical or administrative support
- Completion of 300 clock hours of course work in the clerical field from a licensed vocational, technical, or business school may be substituted for each six months of the required experience
- Must be able to carry and lift 50 lbs. of mail, supplies, and equipment
Qualifications
- One semester (15 semester hours) of accredited college work may be substituted for each six months of the required experience
- Completion of 300 clock hours of course work in the clerical field from a licensed vocational, technical, or business school may be substituted for each six months of the required experience

Schedule
Standard business hours are M-F, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Individual and work group schedule determined by the TCEQ Human Resources Division.
