Tax Team - Staff Attorney

Key Responsibilities

• Negotiate state and local incentive packages with states, counties and municipalities for expanding or relocating businesses.
• Negotiate, draft and review state, local and utility partner contracts related to incentive offers.
• Afford clients with ongoing state and local tax incentive compliance to including claiming benefits and supporting required reporting.
• Work with commercial real estate team to oversee project related land transactions and participate in site evaluation for relocating businesses.
• Participate in tax-exempt bond offerings and oversee requisition process.
• Prepare property tax returns.
• Participate in audit review and defense preparing responses and reviewing documents.
• Research federal, state and local tax issues.
• Discusses tax issues and planning opportunities with other team members.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school; active bar admission in a relevant jurisdiction.
• 2–5 years of tax experience in a law firm or public accounting tax department (preferred);
• 2–5 years of in-depth contract experience in a law firm;
• or Senior counsel with contract experience with a willingness to work with numbers and engage with state and local officials.
