About the role
The Tax Staff Accountant is responsible for the preparation of stand-alone business tax returns, financial statement related tax returns, individual tax returns, and some light tax research.
Responsibilities
- Works on various tax preparation projects under direct supervision of a superior (depending on the tax return, the supervisor could be a Senior Accountant, Manager or Director)
- Prepares business and personal income tax returns; including tax returns for some financial statement related returns
- Performs light research projects in the area of taxation, including payroll and sales tax
- Communicates with clients regarding information needed or clarification of issues
- Actively pursue CPA certification
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or another relevant field required
- Proficient in use of computers and basic software applications
- Above average written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to perform under time pressure and meet deadlines
- Ability to work overtime periodically throughout the year; mainly between mid January and mid April
- A hybrid work schedule will be considered after six months of employment
