About the role

An International Tax Senior Manager advises clients on tax implications, recommends actions, and complies with tax regulations. They also market and develop business relationships, lead tax services, and manage compliance and controversy.

Responsibilities

  • Tax Consulting: Develops and implements international tax consulting ideas, ensures compliance with firm policy, resolves complex issues, communicates with clients, and prepares Written Tax Advice (WTA).
  • Tax Specialization: Develops in-depth understanding of international tax, acts as an expert, manages international tax services, and identifies tax opportunities.
  • Marketing and Business Development: Exhibits thought leadership, builds marketing plans, and develops go-to-market strategies with partners.
  • Research: Identifies and analyzes complex situations, drafts research reports, and coordinates with BDO colleagues in non-U.S. jurisdictions.
  • Tax Compliance: Manages client engagements, reviews international tax aspects, identifies complex issues, and represents clients before U.S. tax authorities.
  • Tax Controversy: Represents clients in tax disputes, applies standards and policies, and reviews international tax provisions.
  • Other duties as required: Supervises tax professionals, provides performance feedback, and contributes to team development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in Accounting; J.D., LLM, or MST/MBT preferred.
  • Eight or more years of experience in corporate tax, international taxation, legal services, or equivalent experience from an advanced degree program.
  • Experience supervising tax professionals on projects or engagements.
  • CPA certification, attorney (admitted to practice in a U.S. jurisdiction), or enrolled agent (or equivalent).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with RIA, BNA, Lexis Nexis, and/or Westlaw.

Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Superior analytical and legal/tax research skills, including building models and analyzing financial data.
  • Strong organizational skills, especially for meeting project deadlines.
  • Ability to manage a team of tax professionals and delegate work assignments.
  • Capable of building and maintaining strong relationships with internal and client personnel.
  • Executive presence and ability to act as a primary contact on assigned engagements.
  • Advanced knowledge of sources of relevant information, filing forms, and technical/practical issues.
  • Strong legal writing background and familiarity with the IRAC method of analysis.

NYC/Long Island/Westchester Range: $99,750 - $262,500
Washington DC Range: $99,750 - $262,500
