Tax Senior Manager, Core Tax Services
About the role
The Senior Tax Manager provides tax and consulting services to business clients with pass through entities and their business owners. This includes S-corps, LLCs, Partnerships, and estates, trusts, and charitable entities. Responsibilities also involve compliance with all applicable authorities, timely services, and client satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Performs tax planning, preparation, and research for pass through entities and individual returns
- Manages client engagements, supervises and reviews work of team staff members, and works closely with clients and internal managers
- Contributes to client satisfaction by providing timely services and work product
- Demonstrates an understanding of tax concepts and pursues increased tax knowledge through client assignments and current tax developments
- Ensures clients comply with all applicable authorities, minimizes tax and reporting burdens, and ensures compliance with Firm policies and the BDO Tax Quality Manual
- Conducts top-level review of tax returns and resolves all tax issues with clients, involving specialists where appropriate
- Plans and reviews the tax process, budgets and staffs, monitors engagement process, and manages client relationships/expectations
- Conducts research, identifies when research is needed, and clearly reports the analysis
- Develops and introduces new or improved ideas to improve client positions, the Firm, or Firm personnel
- Develops and maintains client relationships, provides advice to clients in a timely manner, and acts as a primary client contact
Requirements
- Eight (8) or more years of prior relevant tax experience and/or public accounting, private industry accounting or consulting/professional services experience, specifically with working on individual, estate, trust, partnership, S-corporation, and private foundation tax/consulting clients
- Prior supervisory experience
- CPA certification, Attorney (admitted to practice in a U.S. jurisdiction), or Internal Revenue Service Enrolled Agent (“EA”) (or the equivalent of one of these designations)
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree, major in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Statistics, preferred
- Master’s degree in Accounting or Taxation, preferred

Individual salaries are determined based on various factors including qualifications, experience, skills, and location. BDO offers competitive compensation packages, including a Qualified Retirement Plan (ESOP) that allows employees to share in the firm's growth in value.
Pay
California Range: $146,000 - $200,000
Colorado Range: $120,000 - $185,000
Illinois Range: $140,000 - $190,000
Maryland Range: $150,000 - $180,000
Massachusetts Range: $150,000 - $206,000
Minnesota Range: $130,000 - $190,000
New Jersey Range: $155,000 - $200,000
Ohio Range: $125,000 - $200,000
NYC/Long Island/Westchester Range: $180,000 - $225,000
Washington Range: $150,000 - $200,000
Washington DC Range: $162,000 - $190,000
