Tax Senior Manager, Core Tax Services
About the role
The Senior Tax Manager provides tax and consulting services to business clients with pass through entities and their business owners. This includes S-corps, LLCs, Partnerships, and estates, trusts, and charitable entities. Responsibilities also involve tax compliance, strategy development, and client relationship management.
Responsibilities
- Performs tax planning, preparation, and research for pass through entities and individual returns
- Manages client engagements, supervises and reviews work of team staff members, and works closely with clients and internal managers
- Contributes to client satisfaction by providing timely services and work product
- Ensures clients comply with all applicable authorities while minimizing their tax and reporting burdens
- Conducts top-level review of tax returns and resolves issues with clients, involving specialists as necessary
- Plans and reviews the tax process, budgets and staffs, monitors engagement process, and manages client expectations
- Timely bills, collects accounts receivable, and manages out-of-scope activity
- Provides advice to clients in a timely manner
- Identifies and conducts research on issues requiring attention, clearly framing them and reporting findings
- Develops and implements new or improved ideas to improve client positions, the Firm, or Firm personnel
- Reviews studies of tax implications and offers clients alternative courses of action
- Manages workload and workload of associates and senior associates
- Schedules and manages workload of associates and senior associates
- Provides verbal and written performance feedback to associates and senior associates
Requirements
Eight (8) or more years of prior relevant tax experience and/or public accounting, private industry accounting or consulting/professional services experience, required. Specifically, experience with working on individual, estate, trust, partnership, S-corporation, and private foundation tax/consulting clients. Prior supervisory experience, required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree, required; major in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Statistics, preferred
- Master’s degree in Accounting or Taxation, preferred
- CPA certification, Attorney (admitted to practice in a U.S. jurisdiction), or Internal Revenue Service Enrolled Agent (“EA”) (or the equivalent of one of these designations), required
- Possession of other professional degrees or certifications applicable to role, preferred

California Range: $146,000 - $200,000
Colorado Range: $120,000 - $185,000
Illinois Range: $140,000 - $190,000
Maryland Range: $150,000 - $180,000
Massachusetts Range: $150,000 - $206,000
Minnesota Range: $130,000 - $190,000
New Jersey Range: $155,000 - $200,000
Ohio Range: $125,000 - $200,000
NYC/Long Island/Westchester Range: $180,000 - $225,000
Washington Range: $150,000 - $200,000
Washington DC Range: $162,000 - $190,000
Pay
Individual salaries that are offered to a candidate are determined after consideration of numerous factors including but not limited to the candidate’s qualifications, experience, skills, and geography.
