Tax Senior Associate - Tax Controversy – Washington National Tax
About the role
WNT is seeking a professional to join its dynamic, collaborative and well-established national Tax Controversy/Practice and Procedure team. This role involves consulting with clients and RSM professionals across the firm on a wide range of tax controversy, tax practice, and procedure issues.
Responsibilities
- Assist senior professionals with IRS examinations, IRS appeals matters
- Research technical issues specific to IRS practice and procedural issues including tax, penalty and interest assessments, statutes of limitation for refunds and assessments, missed elections, and IRS examination and IRS appeals matters
- Prepare written communications to the IRS regarding penalty abatement requests
- Work on the IRS account issues, corrections, and reconciliations
- Aid in the preparation of Private Letter Ruling Requests
- Participate in firm trainings
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field from an accredited university
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong research and writing skills
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Ability to meet client service, quality, and performance expectations within applicable deadlines and in accordance with firm and client standards
- Effective project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple priorities, tasks, and projects simultaneously, meet deadlines, and maintain accuracy and quality of work in a fast-paced, client service environment
Qualifications
- Licensed CPA or Enrolled Agent preferred

Pay
The salary range (or starting rate for interns and associates) for this role represents numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to, education, skills, work experience, certifications, location, etc. As such, pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range. Compensation Range: $86,500 - $164,500
Schedule
Individuals selected for this role will be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on firm and individual performance.
