Tax Senior Associate - Tax Controversy – Washington National Tax

About the role

RSM's Washington National Tax (WNT) office is seeking a professional to join its dynamic, collaborative and well-established national Tax Controversy/Practice and Procedure team. In this role, you will consult with clients and RSM professionals across the firm on a wide range of tax controversy, tax practice, and procedural issues.

Responsibilities

• Assist senior professionals with IRS examinations and IRS appeals matters
• Research technical issues specific to IRS practice and procedural issues, including tax, penalty and interest assessments, statutes of limitation for refunds and assessments, missed elections, and IRS examination and IRS appeals matters
• Prepare written communications to the IRS regarding penalty abatement requests
• Work on IRS account issues, corrections, and reconciliations
• Assist senior professionals with preparation of Private Letter Ruling Requests
• Participate in firm trainings

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field from an accredited university
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong research and writing skills
• Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel
• Ability to meet client service, quality, and performance expectations within applicable deadlines and in accordance with firm and client standards
• Effective project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple priorities, tasks, and projects simultaneously, meet deadlines, and maintain accuracy and quality of work in a fast-paced, client service environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Licensed CPA or Enrolled Agent

Pay

Compensation Range: $86,500 - $164,500. Individuals selected for this role will be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on firm and individual performance.
