About the role

The Tax Managing Director is responsible for advising clients on tax implications, evaluating alternative actions, and ensuring compliance with tax regulations. This role involves direct supervision, marketing, and networking activities.

Responsibilities

  • Tax Compliance: Ensures clients comply with all applicable authorities while minimizing tax and reporting burdens. Manages engagements to meet engagement management metrics.
  • Research: Identifies and conducts necessary research, clearly framing issues and reporting analyses.
  • Tax Consulting: Assists in developing and implementing methods to maximize client benefits, especially by reducing taxes or expenses.
  • Tax Specialization: Develops in-depth understanding of specific areas of taxation, advises clients on tax implications, and recommends alternative courses of action.
  • Strategy Development: Introduces and develops new or improved ideas to enhance client positions, the Firm, or Firm personnel.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Statistics, or a Master's in Accountancy or Taxation.
  • At least ten (10) years of relevant tax experience and/or public accounting, private industry accounting, or consulting/professional services experience.
  • Industry expertise in one or more tax specialties.
  • CPA certification, Attorney (admitted to practice in a U.S. jurisdiction), or Internal Revenue Service Enrolled Agent (or the equivalent of one of these designations).

Qualifications

  • Superior verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical, research, and critical thinking skills.
  • Effective decision-making and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Capable of developing and managing a team of tax professionals.
  • Experience with tax research databases and tax compliance process software.

Skills

  • Expertise in ASC 740 (FAS 109 and FIN 48).
  • Knowledge of income tax provisions in international tax, valuation allowance credits, business combinations, and stock-based compensation issues.
  • Ability to apply technical expertise to issue identification and resolution.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
