We are looking for an experienced Tax Manager to join a public accounting team. This position is suited for a detail-oriented tax specialist who can oversee complex engagements, guide client relationships, and support staff development in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate brings strong technical tax knowledge, sound judgment, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining high standards of accuracy and service. Responsibilities: • Lead the preparation and review of federal, state, and local tax filings for a range of business and individual clients. • Manage client engagements from planning through completion, ensuring deadlines, quality expectations, and compliance standards are consistently met. • Advise clients on tax matters by identifying planning opportunities, addressing regulatory questions, and communicating practical recommendations. • Supervise, mentor, and review the work of tax staff and senior team members to support technical growth and overall team performance. • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to gather documentation, resolve issues, and keep projects moving efficiently. • Monitor changes in tax laws and accounting guidance, then apply updated requirements to client work and internal practices. • Use Excel and related tools to analyze financial data, prepare supporting schedules, and strengthen the accuracy of tax reporting. • At least 5 years of public tax experience with progressive responsibility in client service and engagement management.• Strong knowledge of corporate, partnership, and individual tax compliance and planning.• Demonstrated ability to review complex tax returns and identify issues that require further analysis or resolution.• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel for data analysis, reconciliation, and preparation of tax workpapers.• Experience leading teams, delegating assignments, and providing constructive technical feedback.• Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain tax matters clearly to clients and colleagues.• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or progress toward certification is preferred.
