About the role
This role is suited for a tax specialist who can lead client engagements, provide thoughtful guidance on tax matters, and help maintain high standards of accuracy and compliance. The position offers the opportunity to work across a variety of tax and accounting activities while partnering with clients and internal teams to support effective financial reporting and filing obligations.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the preparation and review of tax returns for individuals, businesses, and related entities to ensure complete, accurate, and timely submissions.
- Manage client tax engagements from planning through final delivery, serving as a trusted advisor on compliance matters and tax-related business decisions.
- Lead annual income tax provision work and support financial reporting needs with well-documented analysis and reconciliations.
- Research federal, state, and local tax issues and translate findings into practical recommendations for clients and internal stakeholders.
- Supervise and mentor tax staff, review workpapers, and promote consistent quality across engagements.
- Support entity formation activities and advise on tax considerations connected to new business structures and organizational changes.
- Utilize tax and accounting software, including platforms such as CaseWare and CCH ProSystem fx, to manage workflow, documentation, and reporting.
- Collaborate with audit and accounting teams when tax matters intersect with broader financial statement and compliance requirements.
Requirements
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation or IRS Enrolled Agent credential required.
- Proven background in public tax practice with experience managing client relationships and complex engagements.
- Strong knowledge of tax compliance, accounting functions, and annual income tax provision processes.
- Hands-on experience with accounting software systems and tax applications, including tools such as CaseWare, CCH Sales Tax, or similar platforms.
- Familiarity with payroll- and finance-related systems such as ADP within a services or financial environment.
- Ability to interpret tax regulations, perform detailed research, and communicate recommendations clearly.
- Demonstrated experience reviewing technical work for accuracy, meeting deadlines, and maintaining high standards.
