Tax Advisory - M&A State and Local Tax Manager
About the role
Riveron collaborates with companies to navigate the constantly shifting tax regulatory landscape, offering comprehensive solutions to mitigate, defend, or optimize tax positions. As a strategic partner, we provide hands-on support, enabling our clients to streamline decision-making processes and achieve favorable tax outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Advising private equity firms, corporate acquirers, and privately held businesses through all phases of the transaction lifecycle, including buy-side and sell-side due diligence, tax structuring, transaction planning, and post-close integration.
- Managing multiple client engagements and deadlines simultaneously.
- Preparing client-ready reports and managing multiple engagements in a team environment.
- Managing state and local tax issues, including sales and use tax risk assessments, income and franchise tax nexus analyses, voluntary disclosure and remediation projects, taxability studies, transaction structuring, pre-sale readiness assessments, and post-acquisition integration.
- Defending and resolving state audits.
- Optimizing internal tax functions and improving compliance.
Requirements
- CPA, JD, MST, or equivalent professional credential preferred.
- 5+ years of progressive experience in State and Local Tax, including meaningful M&A due diligence experience.
- Experience in public accounting, consulting, or a transaction advisory practice.
- Strong technical knowledge across multiple state and local tax disciplines.
- Ability to manage multiple engagements in a team environment.
- Thrive in an ever-changing, dynamic work environment and readily identify problems and instinctively look for solutions.

- Strong written communication skills with experience preparing client-ready reports.
- Ability to participate in internal and external company initiatives such as community service, training, recruiting, and firm events.
- Ability and desire to travel as needed.
